9Dragons receives a new developer!

While I was browsing on GamesCampus’ 9Dragons forum, I found an interesting topic with the title “GameCampus/Zerodin Games“. There, a player shared his thoughts, apparently to the Game Masters. Here are some quotes of his post, with my thoughts and opinions:

Hey i just want to say whats on my mind.

This Zerodin New engine how long must we wait for it to take effect?
with new skills/ bosses to kill

When I’ve read that, I was not sure if he was talking about the “all-new” 9Dragons called Dream Dragons Online the whole 9D community is talking lately about. If this would be the case, it would be probably good to inform him that this is an “own” game of a totally different developer.

Im sorry but u guys are just making me feel like u only want our money n putting on sales in IM is good in all but with no new game content the game gets very boring.

When I’ve read that, I thought “Come on… After Acclaim, who implemented new content very rarely, and GamersFirst, who did not update the game very much, GamesCampus is doing a good job with updating the game content.” First I wanted to post that as a reply, but after I found a post written by GM Gamma, I lost my interest into that… I will come back to that later.

why do we have to be exactly like the Korean 9dragons? cuz being like that or trying to be like that is really slowing the process down for us to get content..
were the usa version mix that ish up!

Uhm… Well, to defend this player, he probably doesn’t play 9Dragons since a very long time. If he would have played back at Acclaim, he would know that Acclaim had their very own version, because Acclaim wanted their version to be something “special”, what did just lead to complications, issues and problems. Because it was a very own version (don’t ask me how “own” the version was), the developer Indy21 had to re-code their content again, everytime Acclaim purchased new content. This often led to the issues of not-working patches, or the game servers being offline for many, many hours because Indy21’s patch did not want work, or having to roll-back to the previous 9Dragons version after a patch update, because Acclaim and Indy21 just couldn’t make the patch work.

Since “our” 9D version uses the new content, which is often known from the korean version, like the User Interface, a lot of bugs have been automatically fixed. As a veteran player one surely knows that Indy21 was always a very… “special” developer. Their ability to release a game patch without any bugs is very, very low. Therefore, it is just in everyone’s interest that they don’t get more hard work to do, so that they just have to focus on fixing the bugs once, so that we, the players, won’t have to suffer after every patch, because of their incapacity to write a good code, as it often used to be at Acclaim.

I’m not telling anyone to believe me… I’m just telling you: For your own sake, do not demand more from Indy21 than they can handle – You will regret it.

I think i speak for my self n probably many others if there smart.. I wont be sticking around this game come January 31 2012 if theres still nothing new to show are hard earned levels

Uh… Talking about smart… People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

*I think I speak for myself and probably many others if they’re smart.

I do not think either staying on this game or quit it declares anyone to be smart. Everyone has his own reasons to do what one decides to do.

However…

Scrolling down and reading the replies, I found, as mentioned above, an interesting post by GM Gamma. Here is the most important quote from Gamma’s post:

As for the issue with new game engines and changes there has not been any confirmation or announcements for this. Zerodin is the new developer that is taking over for 9Dragons. It does not mean there will be any new engine changes.

Apparently, a new developer is taking over 9Dragons – A new hope for this game?

However; I wanted to find out more about this “Zerodin”, so I walked out to the mighty Internetz, met the all-knowing Google and proposed my questions. And the all-knowing Google answered:

http://www.zerodingames.com/ – Apparently, Zerodin Games is a korean developer. Taking a look at this website, and one will see some 9Dragons pictures and the text “Ninedragons” as well as “Coming Soon”.

While I was looking in the internet, I also took a look about that Zerodin Engine. Apperently, there’s indeed a game engine called Zerodin Engine, which was made for MMORPG development. And yes, your guess is right – The Zerodin Engine was made by Zerodin Games. If you would like to know more about this Zerodin Engine, then you should definitively read this article over at MMOsite.com.

So, apperently, a development team which seems to have some nice developing skills and qualities will take over 9Dragons. If they will keep using and updating 9Dragons as it is until the game dies or if Zerodin Games will even try to port 9Dragons into their Zerodin Engine to make the game competitive with nowaday’s MMORPGs, that’s probably something we will have to wait for to know the answer.

Happy New Year 2012.

A new face of 9Dragons?

I stopped to play 9dragons long time ago, yet from time to time I still ‘hear news’… Seems that lately, a new game, ‘Dream Dragons Online‘  using 3D technology is build up from the remains of the old 9dragons. The game is produced by Storm Entertainment and the first news on this game dates since 28.06.2011. The clans, clothes, kung fu moves are build up on the ground of 9dragons as we know it, adding new features like pets, marriage system & so on . Let’s see some videos & screens :

So… there should be some questions  awaiting responses : Has Indy21 sold the game patterns ? Were stolen ? Or is this the new 9d version for 2012 ? Btw… Indy21 internet page no longer exist… redirects to 9D K.

Merry Christmas!

We’ve all heard of Rudolph and his shiny nose,
And we all know Frosty who’s made out of snow.
But all of those stories seem kind of… gay
‘Cause we all know who brightens up our holiday!

That’s right! We want to wish you a merry christmas with South Park‘s episode Mr. Hankey’s Christmas Classics.

Why? Because A) I’m really shocked about how few people in 9Dragons actually know South Park. When I write in-game with a Lion’s Roar “Hello there, children“, then there’s not one single person who replies “Hello there, Chef” (therefore I couldn’t ask anyone “How’s it going?” either, to get the reply “Bad” and to ask then “Why bad?“). Also some days ago, when I was in Bloody Plain, I saw a character named [K]enny being killed by another player. But when I wrote in the map chat “Omg! They’ve killed [K]enny!” there was nobody who replied with “You Bastards!“. And B), although Mr. Hankey is a piece of crap, he does not care if you’re Christian, or Jewish, or even atheist – He brings christmas to all who want to celebrate it. And that – let’s be honest – is way more wise than what the majority of mankind does.

BEFORE YOU CLICK ON THE PICTURE BELOW, make sure to read and understand the following note:

All characters and events in this show — even those based on real people — are entirely fictional. All celebrity voices are impersonated… poorly. The following program contains coarse language and due to its content it should not be viewed by anyone.

This is just the standard routine to avoid people complaining about shit…
See what I did there?

Merry christmas, folks!

Weapon Trade and other Patch Notes

In this article, I would like to share some thoughts about some things from GamesCampus’ last patch notes and event informations:

** Due to some major issues that needs to be addressed before the content can be release, updates for the following content has been delayed until further notices .**

King Jin’s Dungeon & Black Temple in Tibet

What a totally unexpected behaviour of our favorite developer Indy21.

[New]Weapon Options:
Available:
Hermit’s Weapons: 2 ~ 3 options
Black Dragon Weapons: 4 ~ 5 options randomly applied (highest rank).
*dropped weapons from mobs/NPC weapons are not available for weapon options.

There are 5 options such as Very Low, Low, Medium, High, and Very High for weapons (options will be differentiated by type of weapons).

List of weapons that are assorted by doable/non-doable of its weapon type.
*Additional Information will be provided

To be honest, I didn’t get much when I read this. I did understand that it is, most probably, the “additional weapon attributes”-system one was able to see on many different weapon screenshots of the korean 9Dragons version – More than enough such screenshots were presented by other players on GamesCampus’ 9Dragons forum.

I’ve logged in to see if I can find some new things in-game. The so-called “[New]Item Collection (combine system)” seems to be under Living (L) -> Combine (was an inactive button named “Weapon” since 2006). However, I can’t find anything in there, neither on my vagabond character nor a clan character. My guess is that there will only appear something after a certain level or that this part still needs to be implemented and will be done so at a later time.

The so-called “[New]Weapon Options” appears to be under Living (L) -> Action -> Trade [Weapon Trade]. I find the name of this very poorly chosen. This has not much to do with trading the weapon – Some players in GamesCampus’ 9Dragons forum mistook these “Can be traded (0/30)” and “Cannot be traded” weapon informations already as a limitation of the ability to trade the weapon with other players. A better name/description could be found easily. As a good and easy example: Why not “Upgrade [Weapon Upgrade]” instead of “Trade [Weapon Trade]“? Would at least have more to do with the actual process of this option.

That remembers me… How long shall Acclaim’s outdated description of The Cave of The Conqueror’s anti-poison buff stay..? How about fixing the ancient text errors? If you don’t have the time to do it, dear GamesCampus GMs, let me know, and I’ll fix them for free.  Joke aside… You should at least create a sub-forum where your players can report text errors – Just like GamesCampus’ german 9Dragons version’s forum used to have (and I think still has). Oh, and by the way… It is very easy to notice the difference between GamesCampus’ translation and the translation from the previous publishers, especially Acclaim. While powerups translated already before GamesCampus say “WHAT increased by HOWMUCH“, GamesCampus’ translated powerups as “WHAT HOWMUCH increase“. As a veteran 9Dragons player I’m like many others used to that; However, new players get easily confused by it. Maybe GamesCampus should consider to write everything the same way instead of having dozens of ways to explain the same thing.

Anyway… Back to topic: I wanted to see what this “Weapon Trade” thing can do, so I tried all 30 times out with some random weapon.

If you click on “Weapon Trade” under Living (L) -> Action, a new window will appear. Drag and drop the weapon you want to upgrade (or “trade”…) into the window – If the weapon information has a red line saying “Cannot be traded“, you won’t be able to upgrade (or “trade”.) your weapon.

The weapon I used, to see what kind of results this Weapon Trade thing brings, was a [New] Spear, level Floral Crown 8, refined to +5 and with 2 slots. This is the screenshot of it before I tried anything:

And here are all 30 results of my upgrade (or “trade”) trial (ok, I’ll admit… They’re only 28 – Didn’t take the screenshot of number 11 and 18):

I hope these screenshots will help the one or another. However, I’m certain that someone of the community will soon find out more about this system and make a guide about it. Also, according to GamesCampus, “additional Information will be provided” later.

We might write another article about GamesCampus’ latest patch notes and event informations.

Vagabond Army Christmas Event 2011: Art Contest (Server Yang)

The Vagabond Army is holding a Christmas Event for the players in server Yang. We want to see the community’s artistic skills. When the event has ended, the members of the Vagabond Army will vote over who completed the quest as best. The winner will receive Blood Essences – Amount depending on the Reward Jackpot.

Due to the small amount of members in the Vagabond Army guild, we can hold this event only for the server Yang. We may hold our events in the future for other servers as well.

Task
The quest is to draw a picture related to 9Dragons. Meaning: Your picture has to be about a situation in The Game. For example, a picture of a fighting situation against mobs, a boss or another person; Or a picture of you and your in-game love; Or a picture of you during a glorious moment. Anything, no matter what, but really related to 9Dragons.

Rules
However, you may not use a game screenshot. We do not want to simply see some screenshots with some Photoshop filters. We would like to see art.

Preferably, we would like to see pictures drew by hand and then digitalized with a scanner. However, you may also just use any image editing program like Photoshop and draw the picture just there from scratch.

As an advice: You should probably use something better than Paint.

Deadline
You may start to draw your picture whenever you like. However, we won’t take any pictures anymore after the 24th december.

Reward
The reward for the winner (the best picture will be chosen by voting – voting restricted to Vagabond Army members only) will be Blood Essences. However, the amount depends on the Reward Jackpot, which is the pot for all Blood Essences sponsered by the Vagabond Army members.

The Reward Jackpot will be closed for the Vagabond Army members after the 24th december as well, therefore the amount may still rise.

Current Reward Jackpot: 50 Blood Essences

Join the Event
If you want to participante, then you may upload and post your art picture in one of the following topics:
Vagabond Army Guild Forum
GamesCampus 9Dragons Forum

We’re looking foreward to see some nice and artful pictures. This would also raise the motivation of the Vagabond Army members to put more Blood Essences into the Reward Jackpot 🙂

Good luck to all participants

Project AI – Who cares?

Hello there, children!

Apparently, I am back in the Project AI Blog. To those who don’t remember or don’t care, I joined the Project AI Blog in the war against Acclaim, and against what all flamers/haters say, every each author did a very good job.

Now seriously, don’t get me started… It’s not as if we appeared from nowhere and just thought “Acclaim bad, Acclaim has to die“, now was it? No, we were four authors – Sedbona, Vennus9D, Story Teller and my humble self, Legend – who wanted and asked Acclaim many times to stop with their unfair doings, and to come up with a better communication between them and their players. Instead of listening to the words of these customers (we authors were all real money spenders), they took these words as threats, like children and/or unprofessional idiots. Every single one. BluFlash, Historian, Hermit, Fugen. One might have been worse than the other, but they all failed at professionalism – And this is no insult, it is the simple fact. Professional company raters gave Acclaim the worst rate they have, an F (you should know american rates/grades to understand this part), and instead of caring about such rates, they didn’t give a fuck – Like… uhm… unprofessional children? However… To come to the point: Acclaim thought we were pissing them off (althought it was only something called “criticism”) and pissed us “back”, indeed like a little child but certainly not like a professional company. This, however, was not cool for us. Criticism, yes – A whole company being unfair to 4 individuals, only for writing the truth about Acclaim, that’s certainly a no-go. There surely are people who would just bow to Acclaim because “they have the last word“, I’m sure of that. But sometimes it isn’t such a person, but instead somebody who rather just starts to fight when fairness and freedom are gone – Or rather four people. We gave it back, Acclaim gave it back… Acclaim sent out their forum moderators and VGMs after us, and we began to write about worse “secrets” of Acclaim. In 2010, Acclaim had already a few money issues. That’s why they started their shameless Item Mall promotions and began to sell some of the best in-game items (not available in-game, back then). Instead of facing the fact that Acclaim might screw their players over, the most players spent even more money. When Acclaim was aquired by Facebook Game Developer Playdom, Hermit and Fugen (and most probably a few other people as well) felt save and did not have any concerns about their financial state anymore. In other words: They were sure to rule over the Land for many more years. But, and that was the beautiful, ironic thing, Playdom was aquired by Disney, and Disney did not want Acclaim to keep publishing MMO games. At the end, Acclaim had every single game closed and their players informed about the closure or the movement to another publisher – Except for 9Dragons. Only 1 day before Acclaim closed 9Dragons, they informed their 9D players about the closure. Fugen, Hermit and some other people promised and gave their word that Acclaim would transfair the character database to GamersFirst, 9Dragons’ new publisher. But, of course, Acclaim & Co just promised new stuff without to even planning to deliver. What they said was “We give you our word“, what they meant was “Shut the fuck up“. Even at the end, Acclaim and their employees showed that their word is not at all to trust. At the end, we from the Project AI Blog were right (we were also the ones who said to the 9Dragons community that Acclaim would close 9Dragons, before Acclaim did it themselves), Acclaim lost the war, 9Dragons and proved one last time that their credibility is probably the worst you’ll ever see in your life. They lost their face, but they walked away with all the player’s money. This, however, was no punishment for Acclaim, but rather for the ignorant players who indeed believed every word from Acclaim and thought Acclaim would never screw them over. You guys sure deserve it.

Hm… Thinking about old times… Didn’t “The (Dark) Hermit” say that his very own MMORPG Cursed Love would come out at the end of 2010? We got end of 2011 – No Cursed Love website yet (still just a group on Facebook) and it is supposed to come out “in 2011“. Well, personally I know this game won’t come out in 2011 – If it will ever come out. Not that easy to develop a MMO, right, Steven?

Back to topic: I’ve quit the Project AI Blog when I’ve become a forum moderator at GamersFirst. There surely are a lot of people who say all I wanted was to become a moderator… Sadly, many people say many things without any clue. Fact is, I do not like to moderate message boards, but I joined GamersFirst’s volunteer team to help the game. But, sadly, GamersFirst’s interest for this game wasn’t as big as hoped. I complained a few times in the mod forum about the issues there were – In-Game issues, communication with the community, lack of informations and activity of Hyperion and the 9Dragons GMs, etc. But instead of listening (what a surprise with 9Dragons…), Hyperion, GamersFirst’s 9Dragons Community Liaison, even called my complaining “drama“. Well, no wonder 9Dragons moved again to another publisher. Take it or leave it – But don’t take something and expect it to grow by itself.

At the moment, 9Dragons is published by GamesCampus. I am not a 9Dragons forum moderator anymore, and that’s probably better like that. There are a few things I’ve read, from the 9Dragons staff and the volunteers, which I did not like. But to be honest, I don’t give a crap at how they behave to players and customers. They want players to leave 9Dragons to another, more updated game? Let Indy21 do what they did until now (snails would be faster, though). They want the community to start a new war against the volunteers? Just let them take sides and reply to the players/customers with ignorance and/or arrogance as some of them do. Some forum moderators are actually trying to re-implement some stuff Acclaim had (I mean, for real? Why do people think so often that shit smells good? Just come up with new, better ideas, for christ’s sake. Acclaim was very, very unimaginative – It isn’t too hard to come up with something better. I mean, seriously… Another thing: The GMs seem to take advice from players who A) flame/hate the forum all the time and B) do not care one little bit about the game/players but only about their connections. If it keeps going on like this, it will be just a matter of time until there’s a new “group of friends” in the volunteer staff, as there was at Acclaim, who do not get monitored, who might do what they wish and who can decide by themselves who may join the volunteer team and who can not. Go ahead, do as you wish. I certainly know I won’t do all again. Sedbona, Vennus9D and Story Teller do not play 9Dragons anymore, and I won’t fight for the whole community and seek fairness anymore. If this will indeed happen again, do not expect to get my help. If it disturbs you that there’s a “group of friends” in the volunteer team sometime, who says who can join and who not, then you’ll have to fight by your own. I am but a lonely Vagabond, a weak clanless warrior, so this certainly won’t be a big problem for you, will it?

However; We will, probably, write more on the blog about 9Dragons. Events, informations, thoughts etc. I realize that there are people who think that the criticism we wrote on our blog makes them cool, however, we do not plan to write about the things we used to write. Before, we had Acclaim and a war. Today, I do not really care about what the fuck the publisher, the volunteer team or the friends of GMs do. If the situation at 9D gets too much, I’ll just leave and spend my money on another game. Like Age of Wulin or something. In other words: We players do not need you. You publishers need us players. If you do not want my money and make this game that shitty that I (and other players) don’t want to spend our time with this game anymore, then that is your free will and your very own decision. But like a professional publisher, GamesCampus should give a thought about the consequences. Take it or leave it, I do not care.

I feel like I also have to write “No threat intended in this article” or something, just to make it sure that a supposedly professional publisher really stays professional (or at least higher the chance for them to stay so).

If you have an issue with words like “shit”, “fuck” etc, then you shouldn’t read this blog.
If you have an issue with an author, then you shouldn’t read this blog.
If you can’t read, you shouldn’t attempt to read this blog.
These are our advice, however, you’re anytime free to read our blog anyway.

Legend, the Vagabond
